A complete ground screw solution, from ground to foundation.

Ground screws are an excellent alternative to traditional concrete foundations — but a foundation is only as good as the ground supporting it. That's why testing is a key part of confirming the proposed ground screw foundation is suitable for the loads of your building.

We can now provide customers, builders, architects, structural engineers and contractors with a complete ground screw solution — from the initial site survey and testing through to the supply and professional installation of the complete foundation, across London and the UK.

Complete Ground Screw Services

Testing and installation, under one roof.

Pecasa can provide both sides of the service: ground screw testing and ground screw installation — either together, or as standalone services.

01 / TESTING

Ground Screw Testing

Controlled, recorded testing using professional RADIX equipment.

  • Compression & load testing
  • Pull-out / tensile testing
  • Proof load testing
  • Installation torque monitoring
  • Site surveys & ground assessment
02 / SUPPLY & INSTALL

Supply & Installation

Professional ground screw supply and installation for the complete foundation.

  • Ground screw supply
  • Professional installation
  • Foundation layouts
  • Test screw installation
  • Recorded test results
03 / SUPPORT

Engineering & Compliance

Working alongside your project team from design through to sign-off.

  • Coordination with structural engineers
  • Support for Building Control requirements
  • SIP & modular building foundations
  • Garden room & annexe foundations
  • Standalone testing for other contractors
Why Test Ground Screws?

Ground conditions change from one property to the next.

Clay, made ground, loose soil and other conditions all affect how a ground screw foundation performs. A site test provides real information from the proposed building location — rather than relying on assumptions.

Sites can contain a wide mix of ground conditions, sometimes within a few metres of each other:

Depending on the project, testing can help establish:

  • The load capacity of the installed ground screw
  • Performance under compression
  • Pull-out resistance where required
  • Installation torque
  • Suitability of the proposed screw
  • Whether the proposed foundation design needs adjustment
Testing Methods

Four ways we put a ground screw to the test.

Downward Load

Compression Load Testing

Buildings transfer significant downward forces into their foundations. We apply a controlled downward load to a test screw and record its response for the structural engineer.

Uplift Resistance

Tensile & Pull-Out Testing

Where a ground screw needs to resist uplift forces, we test how the installed screw responds to a controlled upward load.

Engineer-Specified

Proof Load Testing

Where a structural engineer has specified particular proof loads, we test in accordance with the project requirements and our equipment's capability.

During Installation

Torque Monitoring

Installation torque provides additional information about ground resistance, monitored and recorded as each screw is installed.

Professional Equipment

RADIX ground screw testing equipment.

Pecasa has invested in professional RADIX testing equipment to carry out controlled ground screw testing on site. A measured load is applied to the test screw so its behaviour can be recorded — giving contractors, structural engineers, architects and clients much better information when designing a ground screw foundation.

Working With Your Team

Structural engineers & Building Control.

If an engineer has already specified the required ground screw capacities, send us structural drawings, the ground screw layout and specification, design loads, and testing requirements — we'll arrange the appropriate testing and installation service.

Where Building Control or the structural engineer requires evidence relating to capacity and installation, recorded results can be provided to the appropriate project professionals for review.

Send us, where available:

  • Structural drawings
  • Ground screw layout & specification
  • Compression design loads
  • Tensile loads, where applicable
  • Required proof loads
  • Testing requirements & site location
Standalone Testing Service

You don't need a full Pecasa build to use our testing service.

Our testing service isn't limited to buildings constructed by Pecasa. If you're already installing your own ground screws, we can attend site specifically to carry out the required testing.

Foundations Compared

A modern, cleaner alternative to concrete.

Ground screws can significantly reduce excavation and the amount of concrete required on site. Installation is generally faster and considerably less disruptive — and for suitable projects, construction can begin shortly after installation, with no concrete curing period to wait for.

  • Less excavation, less concrete
  • Faster, cleaner installation
  • No concrete curing period
  • Removable & reusable in suitable applications
  • Backed by recorded site testing
